To sum up, it is not claimed she is a perfect characer. Such monsters do not exist. But it may be confidently asserted that few could bear so close a scrutiny. She erred, of course; but it is difficult to find any act which can not be justified by solid - if not convincing - reasons. Though she generally saw what was right, she did not always ensure it. She did not do the best but the nearest practicable to the best. Let others quarrel over detail: others are abler and greater. She is patriotic, intrepid and pure.
